midvale is where its at....

I will have to admit that I have grown a special place in my heart for the good old city of Midvale. We do live around some very special (and by special I mean old and ghetto) people, but that makes things a lot more interesting. Midvale had a big celebration for their city at the park right next to our house. They had the "Beatles" perform, funnel cakes, cotton candy, and all the fried food you could think of. One thing I do love about Utah is that everyone here always so proud of where they live and it seems as though they always have some reason to have a parade. I have never seen so many parades in my life. We also had a block party this past week. Who still has block parties??? We didn't attend this party, but now I'm kinda wishing we did. I feel as though I need to get more into the Midvale spirit. Here are just a few facts about this city that the Andersons reside in:

1. Midvale has a population of 27,029 people.
2. There are 82.44% White, 1.18% African American, 1.29% Native American, 1.85% Asian, 0.58% Pacific Islander, 9.96% from other races, and 2.71% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 20.77% of the population.
3. The median income for a household in the city was $40,130, and the median income for a family was $43,322.
4. 25.8% under the age of 18, 16.7% from 18 to 24, 31.8% from 25 to 44, 16.6% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. (I was actually suprised by this one, I thought they were a lot more old people, maybe its just our street that has the 9.0%)
5. Midvale City began as a center of mining and industry. Pioneer families began arriving in 1851 to start the settlement, which blossomed in the 1870s as a result of mining in Bingham Canyon and the coming of the railroad.

This weekend was a total chill weekend. We ate, slept, hit up the gym, ran errands and watched movies...my kind of weekend.

Heading to Outback to enjoy their delicious bleu cheese wedge salad, steak, and garlic mashed potatoes. Mmmmmm get in my belly immediately.

Rexburgian Love

Jon and I decided spur of the moment to pack our bags and head up to the Burg. We got there really late Friday night and crashed at our good friends Skyler and Lauren's. We got to visit with them and see their cute little boy Carter. On Saturday, Jon and I went to lunch at one of my favorite places to eat in Rexburg, MILLHOLLOW. It has some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. After lunch, we went over to my Numba One BG and Clayton's house. It was so good to see them since I haven't seen them since I got married. We chit chatted all day long, went and saw A-Team (which I slept almost the entire movie), and then got some Hot n Ready pizza, drove to the park to eat and feed the ducks. Have I mentioned that I absolutely LOVE Rexburg in the summer? The weather is beautiful and you can walk anywhere you go. It's a beautiful thing. After the park, we all went and visited my good friends Alyssa and Brady. I'm so happy that I got to see them! It was so good to talk and catch up with Alyssa like old times. After visiting them for a couple hours, we crashed at Jen and Clayton's. The next morning, Jen got up and made us sausage mcmuffins and hash browns. Ohhh how I miss her cooking!! She is the next Martha Stewart. After a delicious breakfast, we just chilled all day err day. Then it was time for me and my bugga boo to depart to the homeland. It was such a good trip! It was nice to have a change of scenery for a couple days. I will always have a special place in my heart for good ol Rexburg.

Date Night

Everyday at 5:00 pm, I get so beyond excited to go home and just hang out with my husband (btw that's still really weird to me that he's my husband). I love how we get to do whatever we want whenever we want and we don't have any responsibilities other than each other (even though I do want a baby soon really bad). Each day we always think of something to do after we get home from work. Last week, we decided it would be fun to go downtown, get sushi, and do some shopping. We rarely ever spend more than $10 for the both of us on a meal, so this was kinda special and different. It was such a fun night and something that we never do. One of my favorite things to do is to have a good convo over some good food, and what better person to do that with than your bestie fo lyfe! And this week, we are most def going to use the couple's massage that I gave him for his bday. Fo shizzle.

On our way to do a little S&S (sushi and shopping).

Here is what we did on another one of our adventurous nights. I was trying to be so crafty and artsy, but I decided its just not in my blood. You are supposed to staple gun the chicken wire to the back of the frame, but I didn't have one, so I duct taped it (which was the only creative thing that came out of this project). Please take a gander at my weird earring holder that I made. I tried, but it didn't turn out they way I had it visioned in my head. Whateves.

My Bugga Boo is Getting SO BIG!!!!

On July 16, 1985 at 5:30 am, a little boy named Jonathan Clark Anderson was brought into this world. And how grateful I am that he was! Friday was his birthday and he turned the big 2-5. Here are 25 things that I love about him...and try to bear with me.

1. His goofy and funny sense of humor.
2. His down to earth personality.
3. How he likes to research everything before he buys it.
4. His hand motions when he talks.
5. His love for children.
6. His positive outlook on life.
7. How he makes me feel like I am the only woman in the world.
8. The way kisses me and hugs me everyday when I come home from work like we haven't seen each other in years.
9. His handy-man skills.
10. His love for McDonald's and Taco Bell.
11. His bum and legs.
12. His freakin hot face.
13. His motivation and dedication to school and work.
14. His obsession with sweets.
15. How he knows how to win my heart over with a large diet coke and a hot n spicy.
16. How he loves to snuggle.
17. How is always makes sure that I am happy and taken care of.
18. His confidence.
19. His love for his family, friends, and strangers.
20. How he is always the first person to ask if someone needs help.
21. His dance moves.
22. His excitement to be a father.
23. How he is always up for an adventure and a good time.
24. His desire to live the gospel.
25. His ability to make people feel welcomed and comfortable no matter who they are.

Is this not the cutest birthday boy you have ever seen??? He got a headset and controller for his Xbox, a couple's massage and money. No wonder he looks so happy!

On our way to dinner for his bday

He wanted to go to Panda Express for his bday dinner and he couldn't have been happier.

Blowing out his bday candles.

NOTE TO SELF

"We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are. After that we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire.

The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school, until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds, until you have kids, until your kids leave the house, until you start work, until you retire, until you get married, until you get divorced, until Friday night, until Sunday morning, until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off, until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter, until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth, until your song comes on, until you've had a drink, until you've sobered up, until you die, until you are born again to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy..."

My mother in law sent me this and I loved it! It was a great reminder for me to be grateful for what I have NOW and not always think that the grass is greener on the other side, because it usually isn't.

4th of July

This weekend was one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. Shea, Scott and the girls came up and so did JayCee and Joni. I love having family around me over the holidays. On Friday, I got off work a little early(HALLELUAH), so Jon and I went to see "Grown Ups." It was a really funny show by the way. After, we got some dinner and ice cream and relaxed at home for the rest of the night. Saturday morning, I picked up Jace and Joni at the airport and we drove down to Provo to meet up with Kenz. We went to lunch, shopped, and chatted up a storm. After shopping, we went back and got ready for the Stadium of Fire with Carrie Underwood. I was so excited to see my gurl Car bear. Before the concert, we went to dinner at this mexican restaurant. The concert was soooooo freakin good! Carrie is amazing and the fireworks and the whole production was so well done! I don't know who is going to top my gurl Car bear next year. After the concert, we headed over to the Malt Shoppe for some ice cream. After a very long and fun day of girl time, I headed back up to SLC to spend the night with my better half (jon...obviously). On Sunday, we went to church and then Shea, Scott and the girls met us at our apartment. I was so excited to see them. They had been in Provo at Shea's friend Sarah's house. We all went to lunch and then back to our apartment for some serious relaxation before the big 4th of July dinner at my aunt Patti's. After some R&R we headed over to my aunt's to have dinner with Patti, Joni, Kenzi, Jace, Jordan, Chad, Garett, Terry and Dick. Patti made the best steak dinner I have ever had, as always. It was so good to visit with family and watch fireworks. On Monday, Jon, me, Scott, Shea and the girls had some lunch and went to Park City for some shopping. I love hanging out with the Villas. They are so easy going and always up for a good time. After Park City, we headed back to Patti's and did some serious R&R again, watched the Bachelorette, ate, and snacked all night. I was so annoyed that I had to go back to work and face reality again, but am grateful that I could spend this holiday with some of the fam! I LOVE THE 4TH OF JULY!!! And just a shout out to my dad and Zane who's birthdays were on the 4th and the 5th!!!
